“Heaven is here where Juliet lives…”

Eight years ago today I had my beautiful daughter Juliet. She is full of sweetness and light, but boy does she have a stubborn streak. If she does not want to do something, it is not happening. She also is wonderfully unsentimental; when she is finished with something she casts it aside without looking back. No regrets or living in the past for this young lady! I could take a lesson from her.

Juliet used to talk hopefully about my leg getting better, but when I told her it wouldn’t get better, she frowned but she didn’t cry; she seems to accept life as it is. I know she doesn’t fully understand.

I suppose she won’t have too many memories of me being well. She was four when my first symptoms began. My decline is just the way things are. But Juliet, I used to pick you up and run after you and get down on the floor and play. Don’t forget.

Juliet was always the snuggler. She was always with me as I took Thomas to Little League and Audrey to preschool. I nursed her the longest, and she used to come sleep in my bed because with two other kids I was too tired to get up for that 2 a.m. feeding. She is still little enough to climb up into my chair with me for a hug and a snuggle. Dear Juliet, our time together is so sweet.
